Traveling To Niagara Falls?  Here's Some Inside Information.

If you have never been there, you may not be aware that Niagara Falls is actually two different cities.  Niagara Falls, New York is on the American side of the Niagara River.  Niagara Falls, Ontario is on the Canadian side.

The New York side has (in general), much cheaper hotels and motels.  The view of the falls is not considered to be as good.  The American falls, while spectacular, is no where near the magnificence of Horseshoe Falls, on the Canadian side.

They do make up for this, though, by having a platform in Niagara Falls (Goat Island) State Park which hangs over the Niagara River, with a spectacular view.  This is a huge platform, high above the river which also allows access to elevators which take you down to the river bank and the "Maid of the mist".  You can even walk up a stairway right next to the falls.

The "Maid Of The Mist" tour is a group of boats that take you right under the falls.

You can also walk up next to "Bridal Veil Falls" through the Cave of The Winds.  This is a spectacular trip.

Right next to the park is the Aquarium of Niagara, featuring more tan 1500 aquatic animals. Their rates are very reasonable.

The charge to use the platform is $1.00, which I think is very inexpensive. They even let you use rain ponchos, so you don't get drenched from the spray. The noise from the falls and the sheer volume of water is astounding. It's not unusual to hear tourists speaking just about every language on Earth.

You can even take a helicopter ride right above the falls.

You can drive, or even walk across the bridge to Canada.

Niagara Falls, NY also has some immensely popular factory outlet stores, which attract people from many countries, especially Canadians.

Niagara Falls, Canada

Is a real tourist town.  The have an area with things like Wax Museums and Ripley's believe it or not museum, plus an amusement park, lots of Hotels, Bars and Restaurants, plus a Casino.

They have an incredible view of the largest part of the falls (Horseshoe).  There is a Marineland and Game Farm.

Americans can buy liquor at a significant discount at the duty free store.

There is a beautiful drive along the river which takes you to an overlook of an incredibly large whirlpool.
